UNICOR

by Seth M. Ferranit, 03/01/02
The Blueprint for the Global Plantation

And he caused all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

-Revelation 13:16-17

Chapas, Mexico, the Chechenyan Republic, Bosnia, Somalia, Rwanda. Everywhere the U.N. "Peacekeepers" go, or anywhere oppressive, dicatoral regime is supported by the U.S. government, UNICOR produces can be found. What are "UNICOR" products, you may ask? UNICOR is a corporation of the U.S. Federal Government, ostensibly under the Department of Justice. It was officially established as a "sister" corporation of Ferderal Prison Industries, in 1978. While the acrocym "UNICOR" has never been publicly revealed, it is rumored that it stands for "United Nations Industrial Corporation" Judging from the places that UNICOR products turn up, this alleged moniker may not be far off the mark.

UNICOR makes a wide range of products that are supposed to be sold, ONLY to other federal government agencies. This restricted sales clause is a part of UNICOR’s corporate charter. In practice, however, many of the products, especially defense-related items, wind up in the hands of foreign despots or the United Nations "peacekeepers". UNICOR skirts this restrictive clause, by often times shipping products such as helmet liners, Keylar flak vests, high tech cabel systems, pallet shelving, etc. to the Department of Defense, even though the final customer (end user) is known to be a non-governmental agency/entity. The DOD then ships the products (again, at taxpayer’s expense) to the foreign customer.

The following examples of such shipments, from just one of more than 70 UNICOR prison labor facilities are as follows: $400,000 worth of "pallet shelving" (steel beams, uprights and assorted hardware) to the nation of Kuwait, along with 4000 "institutional" beds; Slottedangle and related hardware, sent to United Nation forces, under the auspices of "Operation Restore Hope", in Somalia.

At another facility, helmet liners, flak vests, and other military accessories are produced, that wind up outfitting other nation’s armies (example, The Mexican government’s army, which is, at present, butchering indigenous Indian peasants, in the Chiapas region of Mexico). These defense-related products, made with prisoner labor, also have been used to outfit U.N. soldiers. In addition, at one of the prison factories, located at the United States Penitentiary in Lompoc, California, high tech cable systems are "subentracted" from major defense firms (Teledyne, Hughes, etc.) with UNICOR and the defense firms "splitting" the savings realized, by not employing outside "free citizen" labor. So, while Americans continue to lose their jobs, UNICOR continues to expand its economic clout, through the use of prison labor (prisoners make .23 cents to $1.15/hr., depending on their "pay grade").

UNICOR also seems to think that it is "exempt" from obeying federal laws, regarding minimum wage rates and the employment of undocumented aliens. At present, UNICOR employs approximately 5000 undocumented aliens, nationwide. With a maximum penalty of $10,000/per undocumented worker. UNICOR potentially faces fines of up to $50 million for such illegal hiring practices. There a number of pending lawsuits, that have been filed by prisoners, regarding these blatant violations. Logically, these prisoners wonder why they have received 20 or 30 years sentences for "victimless crimes" or so called "conspiracies" that seemingly pale in comparison to the willful violations that this quasi-governmental agency/corporation are allowed to perperate, under the protective sheild of the "Justice" Dept. UNICOR also, unlike other government "agencies" makes money - LOTS of money. Each of the more than 70 facilities, nationwide, have average sales approaching and in many cases, exceeding more than $1 million per month. In recent years, the gross income of UNICOR has exceeded $500 million per animum. Part of the massive growth has been attributed to the huge influx of prisoners into the Federal Bureau of Prisons system itself, due to the alleged "War on Crime". This, coupled with a lower turnover of prisoner labor, due to increased length of sentences, has enhanced the profit margin considerably.

One may also be wondering, since UNICOR is set up as a "corporation" who owns stock in this business enterprise? Common stock is offered to all members of the U.S. Department of Justice, while "preferred" or Class A stock is held by most of the biggest banks and investment houses on Wall St. (Just as they do with the U.S. Postal Service’s stock). UNICOR maintains a "separate" account through the U.S. Treasury Dept., which is unheard of for any other government agency. Apparently, this makes it a great deal easier for the banisters and DOJ employees to skim off their annual "dividends", without the prying eyes of Congress or GAO auditors looking over their shoulders… or asking "embarrassing" questions.

Given the huge losses of industrial jobs and defense-related employment in this country, UNICOR has managed to grow immensely, at the direct expense of American workers. Don’t kid yourself, that "rehabilitation" is part of UNICOR agenda - it doesn’t take 20,30, or even 40 years to "rehabilitate" anyone - but it does add up to an entire "work career" for a prisoner whose punishment will for outweigh any "crime" committed. Prisons and prison-related fields, are the fastest growing segment of American society, and that should set off warning shells in the heads of those Americans who still cherish the rights and freedoms that we are constantly reminded that we still (?) enjoy.

We have denounced (and rightly so the slave labor practices of the People Republic of China, and their selling of such products to other nations, yet this government traffics in the same misery and greed, and its citizens are kept ignorant of the fact while shelling out more and more tax dollars for new prison construction, which includes the building of further UNICOR factories that will destroy more of our nation’s industrial sector, fostering more unemployment (and crime), and fattening the coffers of those parties, who are working ruthlessly and relentlessly to achieve what they euphemistically call "The Great Leveling". With everyone equally destitute (and/or enslaved), within their beastity system, the "Global Plantation" will become a reality - and the monopoly capitalists of the world will have achieved the greatest monopoly of all: A monopoly over mankind itself.
