"PrisonerLife.com is dedicated to providing ALL prisoners incarecerated in the United States opportunities to communicate with the world and expand their networks of support."

Prisoners should use the services available through PrisonerLife.com to help them to not only prepare for their successful release to society, but also during their incarceration.

Depending on the prisoner's personal goals, there are several ways the services of PrisonerLife.com can help.

Let's look at some common Applications:
Free Membership
Personal WebPages
Email Accounts
Message Boards

FREE MEMBERSHIP:
Prisoner's can become a part of the PrisonerLife.com family by simply entering their information into our member directory. This service allows relatives and friends an opportunity to keep track of members despite unscheduled prison transfers or lost addresses.

Individuals may ask anyone with internet access to load information about themselves into our database. There is NO CHARGE for this service. Once they're loaded, anyone with internet access can log on to PrisonerLife.com's database to find the individual's current mailing address.  (Add a prisoner to the directory now.)

PERSONAL WEBPAGES:
Prisoners who spend significant amounts of time behind prison fences lose contact with people in the community. If they don't reach outside during the years that pass, their relationships eventually may become limited to other prisoners. Opening a personal WebPage on the internet may help prisoners open new relationships that will help them pass their time more easily. For a low annual fee, prisoners can publish their photograph and information about themselves, and invite internet users into their lives.

The individual prisoners can wait for people on the web to find them, and they can be more effective by directing people to their personal advertisements. For example, they may read a personal ad in a newspaper or magazine. Instead of responding to each ad with a new prison photograph and lengthy letter describing themselves, prisoners with information published on the internet can write a shorter letter directing that person with whom they're trying to communicate to their Personal Webpage.

The Personal WebPage service on PrisonerLife.com allows prisoners to publish their photograph and up to 250 words of information they want to share. They also have an opton to enhance their Personal WebPage with an Email Account.

EMAIL ACCOUNTS:
Prisoners may elect to include an Email Account to enhance their Personal WebPage or for no other reason than to receive messages.

All visitors will have the option of clicking on the prisoners' email address that is placed with their name and prison mailing address. Instead of visitors having to copy their address down and write a letter by hand, adding a stamp, and going to the post office to mail it, they simply click on the prisoners' email address and can instantly send a letter to that prisoner.

This makes it much more convenient for the website visitor, and because of this, choosing this option may increase responses by up to 70%.

Third-Party Forwarding:
A third-party forwarding account will provide prisoners with an opportunity to receive email messages through a family member or friend.

For example, if a prisoner calls his mother (or anyone else) regularly, and his mother has an existing email address, a prisoner may encourage internet users to leave him messages; those messages will be forwarded automatically to an email address of his choosing. In other words, Jim may have a Personal WebPage at PrisonerLife.com. He may encourage users to leave him a message on-line at his email account, jim@prisonerlife.com. Internet users who want to leave Jim a message may do so, and Jim's mother (or anyone else he chooses) will receive that message whenever she checks her own email. If Jim wants no other service besides an email forwarding account, he can instruct others to leave him messages at jim@prisonerlife.com; all those messages will be forwarded to the email addresses he has assigned. That person can print them out and mail them to Jim, or relay the messages over the phone.

Anyone who want this service may submit two email addresses to which they want their messages forwarded; PrisonerLife.com will notify the prisoner of their assigned email address so they can also let family and friends know where to write them. Sign-Up a prisoner for a Third-Party Forwarding Account

MESSAGE BOARDS
By popular demand, we bring prisoners their own "personal" Message Board. This is the one feature that was requested most from prisoners, especially since access to the telephone is restricted.

This is how it works: Their Message Board is on their very OWN page with links to that page wherever their name appears, including our search engines. Internet users just click on the link, and instantly they can leave the prisoner a message. Family, and especially friends (even strangers) love to leave messages on a message boards. Great for those who want to stay in touch without having to address an envelope and use a stamp. And they don’t even have to have an email address.

It won't replace personal correspondence, but perfect for that quick message . . . letting the prisoner know family and friends (and even strangers) are thinking about them and they are not alone. A family member or friend relays the messages over the phone, or print-out the messages and sends them to the prisoner. Unlike email, Messages Boards are not private. Sign-Up a prisoner for a Message Board
